Advent calendar for pets

Its really true. Two years ago a pet shop owner in Austria created an advent calendar for pets. They look just like a regular advent calendar, but behind each day, is a biscuit for pets, instead of chocolates for kids. The calendar became a hugh success. The first year about half of the calendars were snapped up by dog owners, 35 per cent were purchased by cat lovers and the rest were bought by people who keep rodents as pets.
Today you can find many advent calendars for pets on the internet.

This christmas, millions of people will spend a small fortune on the loves of their lives. But increasingly, the recipients of those gifts will be of the four-legged variety.

According to CBS news,  americans care about pets more than ever today. Nearly two-thirds - 63 percent - of households have a pet, and pet lovers spent $38.5 billion on their pets in 2006, up from $21 billion a decade earlier.

Much of the billions of dollars spent on pets goes for extreme stuff, which, these days, includes sunglasses for dogs, Gucci clothing for you cat, life-extending surgeries and tooth-and-gum cleansing wipes. According to Consumer Reports, every year about 400 U.S. pets have pacemakers implanted to regulate their heartbeats, a $3,000 procedure. And a kidney transplant is an option for cats experiencing a common ailment, renal failure, provided its owner can afford the $8,000 to $10,000 price-tag.

Love your pets. Spoil them if you want. But don’t try to turn them into humans and do not forget that the christmas season is a good time to start thinking about helping people as well.
