Early Christmas in the White House

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

When did former First Lady Hillary Clinton get to work on the first Clinton White House Christmas card?

Earlier than you might expect! According to Wall Street Journal march 20 2008, Clinton held her first Christmas card planning meeting on May 13, 1993 with four staffers for 50 minutes, according to her official White House schedules released march 19 2008. Clinton held a follow-up meeting on May 25, 1993, again with four staff members. This one lasted an hour.

President Clinton didn’t attend these meticulous planning events. He did, however, show up for their Christmas photo that was scheduled on Nov. 11, 1993.

While the Christmas card commanded the first lady’s attention in 1993, subsequent year’s schedules have no mention of Christmas card meetings.

Online shopping will increase up to next Christmas

Monday, January 28th, 2008

More than fifty procent of the online shoppers in United Kingdom intend to increase their online spend in the run up to Christmas 2008– according to the latest Logan Tod Online Shopping Index.

E-tailers enjoyed a record breaking rise in Christmas shopping online in 2007, according to the latest figures from the IMRG which revealed a £15.2 billion spend, and Logan Todd predicts this growth will continue.

“More than 80% of adults in the UK shopped online in 2007, which is a rise of 5% on 2006’s figures,” says Matthew Tod, Chief Executive at Logan Tod to Netimperative.“We believe that the key drivers for Christmas 2008’s predicted growth will be the older age groups. The over 40s and over 50s are still discovering the benefits of shopping online and this trend will doubtless continue to next year.”
